Obituary for Grace Hideko Ito
December 20, 1921 – September 17, 2016
Our family is deeply saddened to announce that Grace Hideko Ito (nee Kawano) passed away peacefully at the age of 94. She was predeceased in 2013 by Jerry, her beloved husband of 71 years, son Dave in 2006 and brother Melvan in 1983. She is survived by her loving family; daughter Elaine (George) Homma, son Brian (Diane Laliberte), sisters Nellie (late Hideo) Kawahara, Alma (Sub) Miike, sisters-in-law Mieko Kawano and Sue (late Ken) Ito. She will also be missed by her two grandchildren Stephanie (Colin), Mark (Natalie), two great-grandsons Tyson and Nash, nieces, nephews and friends across Canada. Her kindness and devotion generosity and grace, will be cherished by those whose lives she touched. We would like to express our heart felt gratitude for the dedicated and compassionate care provided by Dr. Akira Horii, Dr. Archie Lee Son and Dr. Nick Petropolis, and by the exceptional staff at Nikkei Home and Foyer Maillard in her twilight years. No formal service at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations honouring Grace’s memory to Nikkei Home (6680 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby, BC V5E 4N3), Foyer Maillard (1010 Alderson Avenue, Coquitlam, BC V3K 1W1) or your preferred charity would be greatly appreciated.
