Obituary for Salvatore Francesco Grandinetti

Salvatore F. Grandinetti
April 2, 1923-April 11, 2108

Salvatore (Sam) was born in Spezzano Piccolo, Cosenza, Italy; and he immigrated to Canada in 1950. He now rejoices with those whom have gone before him: his mother Maria Teresa Sapia, brother Luigi Grandinetti, and sister Iolanda Cannata; his in-laws Vincenza and Dominick Severino; his brother-in-law Carmen Severino; and sister-in-laws MaryAnn Severino, Giovannina Grandinetti and Shirley Severino. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Grace; his children Teresa, Dominic (Barb), Lenny (Patti), Vickie; his grandchildren Sarah, Allison (Harrison), Samantha, Paul, Nicole, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; brother-in-law James Severino; and sister-in-law Teresa Severino.
Sam was a loving family man, setting an example to his children and grandchildren. He was the most thoughtful and giving person when it came to his neighbors; sharing his knowledge and the bounty of his garden with them and also with passersby, all of with whom he loved to talk. Young and old shared a smile for him, and he for them. We wish to thank all those who cared for him during his final days at Vancouver General Hospital. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to Diabetes Canada. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, Burnaby. Mass of Christian burial is on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vancouver; with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby.
