Obituary for Maria Maglio

Maria Maglio passed away peacefully at her care home in Vancouver BC on February 7, 2018 at the age of 88 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Maria is survived by her son John (Jeff), as well as, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Vittorio, father Giovanni, mother Nicoletta and sister Dina. Maria was born on December 1, 1929 in Mola di Bari before moving to Canada with her husband. Once in Vancouver Maria worked at a factory as a seamstress before the birth of her son. She took great joy in raising her son John and also excelled at cooking and gardening. Maria was also a very active volunteer and parishioner at St. Helens Church. Her son would like to send a very special thank you to the staff at Broadway Pentecostal Lodge where Maria was very well attended to during the last few years of her life. Their dedication and professionalism was a comfort to Maria and her son. A funeral is scheduled for 1:00pm at Saint Helen's Church in Burnaby on February 16, 2018, with no reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Maria's life. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be sent to the Parkinson's Society of British Columbia.
