Hogue, Raymond (Ray) Harry, of Port Moody, BC, passed away peacefully on July 01, 2017 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn and daughter Lorissa. He is survived by his son Barry (Jackie), his beloved dog Alfie and many extended family and friends. He was born January 3, 1929 in St. Rose, Manitoba. He was one of 12 children who grew up in Silver Ridge, Manitoba, he was the last surviving member of his family.
Ray came to Port Moody at the age of 17 and worked as a mill right before joining the City of Port Moody. Ray worked for the city for 36 years and retired in 1993 as Superintendent of Operations. Ray spent 23 years volunteering for the city of Port Moody as a firefighter and in the beginning also drove ambulance. Ray spent his life in the service of helping others. Whether in his career or family life his kindness, thoughtfulness, love and generosity touched all those he came in contact with. Being with family gave him the most happiness and peace in life. A proud yet private man, he lived life with honesty and integrity. Ray had an ability to fix and repair nearly anything and he loved the challenge of doing just that for nearly anyone in need. Ray loved the city in which he lived, worked and volunteered in, Port Moody.
We would especially like to thank Ray’s extended family and close friends for coming and visiting him in his final days. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and those who he touched through his talents and volunteerism. A special thank you to Gord Parker, Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Port Moody for all of his support through this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday July 7 at 100pm, in King of Life Lutheran Church 1198 Falcon Drive in Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Society in Ray's memory.
