Obituary for Casey Kozdron

KOZDRON, Casey
September 14,1948 – March 20, 2017
Casey Kozdron, a long-time resident and Catholic school teacher in Burnaby, died unexpectedly at the age of 68 while skiing at Cypress on March 20, 2017. Casey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Audrey, his sister, Stella, his children, Michael and Allison, and his grandchildren, Sebastian, Nathaniel, Sophia, and Isabel. He is predeceased by his parents. Casey was born in England on September 14, 1948, to Polish immigrants Jan and Anna Kozdron, but grew up in Montreal. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in 1969, then married Audrey (nee Tecter) in 1971. They moved to British Columbia in 1979 and he taught for 34 years at Notre Dame Regional Secondary School until the summer of 2014. Casey was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He loved the outdoors, especially skiing, hiking, fishing, ice skating, and cycling. Around home he enjoyed gardening, cooking, sports, and the theatre. He traveled frequently to see his grandchildren and was active in their lives. After retirement from full-time teaching, Casey remained involved with Notre Dame and his long-term parish at St. Helen's, where his children had attended elementary school. Casey was well-loved and well-respected by all those who knew him and will be deeply missed. The funeral mass is scheduled for March 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen's Parish 3860 Triumph Street in Burnaby with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
