Obituary for Jure Fumic

December 15, 1927 - March 13, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Jure Fumic. Jure was born in Brinje, Lika, Croatia. He came to Canada in 1960. Predeceased by his father Tomo and mother Janja, daughter Ruzica, siblings Marija, Ruza, Marko, Tomica, Ankica i Mirko. He is survived and will be forever remembered by his loving wife of almost 70 years Marija, daughters Zora (Zivko), Nevenka (Bepo), Verica (Ivica), grandchildren George (Marina), Gregory (Cari), Davor (Mary) Daniela (Frank) Nikolina (Matthew), Daniel, Catherine (Damian) and his pride and joy his great-grandchildren Nikolas, Ella, Violet, Matteo, Carlo, Angela, Matteo, Tea, Maria, Daniel, Victoria, Luka, Olivia and Tanja. Jure was so proud of his family and his Croatian heritage, He was a kind, gentle and generous man who would give you the shirt of his back and never ask for anything in return. He worked hard in the underground mines in Yukon and the open pit mine in Tasu where he won numerous awards for bravery and was accomplished wood carver. He loved outdoors especially camping with his grandkids. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Parish, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC, where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Tuesday, March 21, 2017. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum.
