Obituary for Edward Kiichiro Shoji

Edward Kiichiro Shoji
SHOJI, Edward Kiichiro
January 18, 1933 - February 16, 2017
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Edward Shoji. He was predeceased by his parents Roy and Matsue Shoji, sister-in-law Terry and nephew Warren. Survived by his adored wife, Shirley; children Sharlene (Brent) Baxter, Stuart (Cathy), Bryan and Geoffrey (Lisa); grandchildren Liam, Matthew, Megan, Rachel, Nicholas, Taylor and Lauren; brothers Yosh, Vic, Kuts (Carol), Elmer (Ginger) and sister, Shelagh (Terry); brother and sisters-in-law Judi, Linda (Bob), Richard, Evelynn (Mike) and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Vancouver, relocated to Minto Mine and graduated from Revelstoke High School in 1952. After graduation, he moved to Vancouver and attended UBC (accounting) and enjoyed a highly successful career at Mitsubishi Canada Ltd. from 1965-1994 where he was the Manager of Accounting, Assistant General Manager, Controller of Toyo Tire Canada while concurrently, Manager of the Administration & Coordination Dept. of MCL Vancouver. Dad retired from MCL in September 1994 to head up the Canadian Chopstick Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Dad enjoyed golfing, curling, playing the saxophone, karaoke with the Enkatainers, volunteering at the Nikkei Center, playing black jack at the casino, travelling the world with mom and most of all, spending time laughing, hugging and making special connections with his children and grandchildren. Everyone who met our dad fell in love with him. What a wonderful legacy he has left behind. The family would like to thank Dr. Rauh, caregivers Virginia & Rex, staff at Burnaby General Hospital and Care Home for the wonderful care they provided Dad. A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held on March 5, 2017, 2-4:30 p.m. at the Nikkei Heritage Centre at 6688 Southoaks Crescent, Burnaby. If so desired, contributions in memory of Dad may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com
