SAYER, James Joseph
August 8, 1923 – October 18, 2016
Our loving Father passed away peacefully accompanied by family on October 18, 2016 at Langley Memorial Hospital. Dad was predeceased by the “Love of His Life” Ruth Elizabeth nee Foster in 2008. They were inseparable and now they are together once more. They were predeceased by never to be forgotten son Michael in 1971. Lovingly remembered by Bill (Laurie) Renton, WA, Rosemary Benedetti (John) Burnaby B.C. and Robert (Linda) Coquitlam B.C. Nine grandchildren Mike B, Amanda (Chris), Jon (Abby), Mike S., Elizabeth, Steven, Mark, Shannon, Theresa and two great grandchildren, Connor and Alaina, they all will always remember Papa as a generous, thoughtful and kind patriarch who was always there for them and who never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Jim was born in North Bay, Ont. the last of nine children. He was the last of that generation who grew up in the 1930’s, joined the RCAF in 1942, serving overseas and raised four children in the 50’s and 60’s. He enjoyed a 47 year career with the CPR moving across Canada from Montreal to Vancouver and eventually Calgary. Home in the Vancouver area was in Tsawwassen from 1967 to 1977. Mom was with him every step of the way making lifelong friends wherever they went. They settled in Surrey after retirement and were active members of the Beach Grove Golf Club in Tsawwassen. We have lost a true gentleman, a man who was always there for his family and one who wanted the best for all of us. To say he will be missed doesn’t do justice to what he meant to us and how he was the perfect role model that we all looked up to. A memorial service will be conducted at the Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 22, 2016. In lieu of flowers we respectfully suggest that you make a contribution in Dad’s name to your favorite charity.
