CALABRIGO, Girolamo “Gerry”
January 11, 1928 – October 10, 2016
Devoted husband, father, and nonno passed away peacefully on October 10, 2016. Gerry was a hard worker and meticulous craftsman, with a generous spirit and passionate temperament. He believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well. He loved nothing better than to be with family and friends. He enjoyed good food and good wine, telling stories, singing and dancing, golfing and gardening, and travel. He lived life to the fullest. Gerry was born in Ciano del Montello, Italy on January 11, 1928 to parents Giuseppe and Maria Calabrigo. In 1951 he immigrated to Canada (Vancouver). There he met and married “Bebe,” the love of his life for 60 years, by whom he was predeceased (2014). He is survived by his brothers Gino (Dina) in Italy, and Bruno (Elena) in Switzerland. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and live on in the hearts of his son Joe (Cathy) and daughter Melanie, and his grandchildren Jeremy, Alyssa, Nicholas, Adam, and Allegra – as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish 555 South Slocan Street, Vancouver on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow at the Italian Cultural Centre, 3075 Slocan Street, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favourite charity – or commit random acts of kindness – in his memory. We wish to express our deep appreciation to the many wonderful people at Villa Carital who watched over and cared for our father/nonno over the past years. Gerry enjoyed friendship and respect there.
